Study Abroad Blogger

We Want You to Share Your Adventures From Your Study Abroad Experience!


SUNY New Paltz students who are accepted, committed and participating in an upcoming study abroad program.


The Center for International Programs provides guidelines to blog posts themes, including:
  • Preparing for Your Trip
  • Welcome to Your New Home
  • Cultural Adjustment
  • Academic Adjustment
  • Travel
  • Returning to the USA
  • Home and Reflecting on Your Time Abroad


SUNY New Paltz students who are accepted, committed and participating in an upcoming study abroad program; and have submitted all items of the New Paltz Abroad Bloggers application before the deadline.


  • If you do not obey these guidelines or the minimum requirements for posting, you will be excluded from any further blogging. CIP reserves the right to end our blogging relationship at our discretion at any time.
  • Post at least ten (10) times over a semester OR at least six (6) times over a summer/winter intercession OR at least sixteen (16) times over an academic year study abroad and posts must be spaced out over the time spent studying abroad.
  • Start your blog 1-2 weeks before you go and continue to blog 2-3 weeks after you return to the U.S., you can continue to update your blog up to six months after you return to the U.S.
  • Content must assist SUNY New Paltz in promoting Study Abroad.


  • Rewards will be offered as a graduation sash that represents the country that you study abroad program was hosted
  • Bloggers can have “Study Abroad Blogger for X semester” added to their Co-Curricular Transcript

How to Enter
If you are a SUNY New Paltz students who is accepted, committed and participating in an upcoming study abroad program, you are eligible to enter the contest and should see an "Apply Now" button at the top and buttom of this brochure page. Once you've applied, you will be able to upload items to your online application page.

Items include:
  • New Paltz Abroad Blogging Contract
  • Preferred Email Address
  • A Short Biography (2-3 sentences)
  • Photos to Upload to your Study Abroad Blog Profile
