  • There are no pre-requisites for this program. However, please note that there may be pre-requisites for specific internships. Please consult your Study Abroad Advisor.
  • Your classes will be taught in English.
  • This program is not major/minor specific.
Housing
  • Students have their own room in a shared apartment.
  • Apartments are secure high-rise complexes, centrally located, close to public transportation, shops, gyms, restaurants, and supermarkets.
  • Pricing includes utilities (wifi, gas, electricity, A/C).
The following scholarships are available to students attending the Tsinghua University study abroad program. 

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
Award amount up to $5,000
Offers awards for study abroad to U.S. citizen students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a 2 year or 4 year college or university. Selected by competition, recipients are awarded up to $5000 to defray the costs associated with studying abroad. In the past New Paltz student have been very successful with obtaining this scholarship! Application deadline is first Tuesday of March for summer, fall and academic year and the first Tuesday in October for Spring and Summer (early application).?


The Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship
Award amount up to $10,000
Offers scholarships for US citizens planning to study abroad for at least four weeks between September and August. Awards for this scholarship are given to up to ten students planning to participate in a high-quality, rigorous education abroad program. FEA scholarship recipients can receive up to $10,000 provided by both corporate and private donors committed to increasing study abroad opportunities for dedicated American Students. Application deadline is typically mid-January.

Visa & Immigration
  • You are required to have a valid adult passport in order to apply for a visa and to study abroad. Your passport should be valid for at least six months post your study abroad program. If you do not have a valid adult passport, please visit the Department of State website for more instructions.
  • Visa requirements frequently change and you are ultimately responsible for correctly completing immigration requirements for your host country.  Please do not apply for a visa or purchase airplane tickets until you have received information and support documentation from the SUNY New Paltz Center for International Programs office:
US citizens: Visa is required
Non-US citizens: Check with your host country’s consulate for visa requirements
